Campeche health authorities monitor five children after intoxication incident

Five minors in the Nilchí community of Campeche are in stable condition following an intoxication incident. The children presented symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting, and moderate dehydration after allegedly consuming fruit from a tree that had been recently fumigated.

Medical personnel from the IMSS Bienestar health center provided initial oral and intravenous hydration before transferring the patients to the Dr. Javier Buenfil Osorio General Hospital of Specialties in San Francisco de Campeche for specialized pediatric care. The state Secretariat of Health reported that the children are under continuous monitoring and do not require advanced life support.

Authorities have launched an investigation in coordination with the State Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks and the Epidemiological Intelligence and Sanitary Unit to determine the exact cause of the intoxication and implement necessary control measures.
