Campeche reports no major damage after Hurricane Isaías passes

Authorities in Campeche, Mexico, have declared a return to normalcy following the passage of Hurricane Isaías. State officials reported no major casualties or widespread damage, characterizing the outcome as a “saldo blanco” (zero casualties).

The most significant preventive measures occurred in the coastal community of Isla Arena, where 39 people were evacuated to ensure safety. The Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina) deployed emergency response brigades to the area, conducting night patrols and securing river vessels to prevent damage from maritime conditions.

In the municipality of Carmen, storm surges caused minor landslides on the federal highway near Sabancuy and affected structures under construction. Other municipalities, including Tenabo, Hecelchakán, and Calkiní, experienced rainfall and electrical activity, but local officials reported that proactive measures, such as cleaning drainage systems, prevented major flooding. A single fallen tree was reported on the Campeche-Mérida highway.
