Municipalities launch various sports facility renovation projects

Various municipalities and regional governments are undertaking significant investments to renovate and construct sports facilities.

In the Dominican Republic, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz has launched the reconstruction of the San Pedro de Macorís Sports Complex with an investment exceeding RD$274 million. This project is part of a national initiative by the Abinader administration to modernize athletic infrastructure.

In Mexico, several local governments are active in facility improvements. In Saltillo, the ‘Activa tu Parque’ program has rehabilitated 20 spaces, including multi-use courts, through public-private partnerships. In San Juan del Río, authorities are constructing a multi-use roof in Casa Blanca to benefit 1,200 people, while also inaugurating a new 5-a-side football pitch. In Campeche, residents have called for urgent repairs to a deteriorating synthetic turf field in the Presidentes de México neighborhood.

In Spain, Carboneras is investing nearly €30,000 to repair padel courts at the Las Marinicas complex, utilizing recycled materials to save costs. Additionally, Elche has completed renovations on the Carrús sports center's locker rooms and toilets, and Cártama is progressing with the construction of a new pumptrack and surfskate circuit, representing an investment of over €276,000.
