Campeche State Eliminates Transfer Fee on Ko’ox Public Transport

Effective 16 September, the state government of Campeche will remove the transfer charge on the Ko’ox public‑transport system, so riders will pay a single fare regardless of the number of connections needed. The subsidy previously covering the transfer fee will be absorbed by the state to lower daily travel costs and promote a more equitable mobility model.

Governor Layda Sansores also announced that financial support for fishermen during closed‑season and low‑catch periods will rise from 4,000 to 6,000 pesos per household beginning in 2027, a 50 percent increase aimed at strengthening fishing families’ economies.
