Campeche suspends digital municipal services due to cybersecurity risks

The Institute of Statistical, Geographic, and Cadastral Information of the State of Campeche (INFOCAM) has announced a preventive suspension of various digital municipal service platforms from October 27 to November 2, 2026. This measure follows the detection of attacks and attempts to breach the state's technological infrastructure.

The suspension is a response to critical vulnerabilities identified in PHP technology, which carries a severity rating of 9.2 out of 10 according to the CVSS 4.0 international standard. The decision aims to protect user information and prevent unauthorized access to municipal computer systems.

Digital payment platforms for property tax (predial) are suspended in 12 municipalities: Calakmul, Calkiní, Carmen, Candelaria, Champotón, Dzitbalché, Escárcega, Hecelchakán, Hopelchén, Palizada, Seybaplaya, and Tenabo. Additionally, in Champotón, platforms for garbage collection payments and business license issuance are affected. Water utility payment platforms are suspended in Champotón, Dzitbalché, Escárcega, and Tenabo.
