Camper Osteria Italia stages Tuscany‑Sardinia culinary showdown
The Italian TV program Camper Osteria Italia returned to Rai 1 from 3 to 7 August, hosted by Peppone Calabrese. The weekly competition pits family‑run osterias from Tuscany against those from Sardinia, with each team presenting regional specialties such as Tuscan ricotta gnudi, ribollita and truffle‑infused turkey breast, and Sardinian gnocchi, pecorino‑based dishes and saffron‑honey desserts. The panel of judges includes journalist Angelica Amodei, actor‑director Vittorio Vaccaro and jury president Andy Luotto, who decide the weekly winner.
During the 30 July episode, Calabrese narrowly avoided a fall on a studio step while greeting singer Rosanna Fratello. He recovered with a humorous remark, and the broadcast continued without interruption. The clip quickly spread on social media, drawing light‑hearted reactions. The show also features on‑location segments that showcase picturesque Italian towns such as Borgo Valsugana, Vieste, Monte Isola and the beach at Talamone, highlighting local food heritage and landscapes.
