Campi Salentina schools close temporarily due to scabies cases

Authorities in Campi Salentina have ordered the precautionary closure of two schools following reports of scabies cases. The Gramsci primary school and the San Pompilio Maria Pirrotti middle school will suspend activities for one day to allow for thorough cleaning and disinfection of classrooms and common areas.

Mayor Alfredo Fina stated the decision was preventive and intended to ensure hygienic conditions without causing alarm. In addition to school buildings, the municipality is arranging for the sanitization of school buses used for student transport. The local health authority, Asl di Lecce, notified school officials of the two cases, prompting the immediate response.
