Campina Grande Council: Saulo Germano poised for unopposed re-election

Saulo Germano is expected to run unopposed for the presidency of the Campina Grande City Council for the 2027/2028 biennium. The election is scheduled for October 1, and Germano has reportedly secured the support of all 22 council members.

A new agreement regarding the composition of the Board of Directors has been reached to increase opposition participation. Under the proposed arrangement, the opposition will hold three of the seven available seats, while the government base will hold four. This follows the withdrawal of Luciano Breno from the presidential race.

In a separate legislative move, Council President Saulo Germano has proposed a bill to establish the ‘Disque Saúde Mental da Mulher’ (Women’s Mental Health Hotline) in Campina Grande. The initiative aims to create a confidential channel for women experiencing emotional distress or vulnerability to receive guidance and information. The service would be managed by the Women’s Reference Center (CRAM) and the Municipal Health Secretariat.
