Campinas activates new traffic enforcement cameras
The Municipal Company for the Development of Campinas (Emdec) has activated two new videomonitoring cameras to enforce traffic violations in Campinas. The new surveillance points are located on Avenida John Boyd Dunlop in Jardim Londres and at the intersection of Rua Salles Oliveira and Rua Dr. Pereira Lima in Vila Industrial.
These specific locations were selected due to a history of 78 traffic incidents recorded between 2023 and 2026. The expansion brings the city's total to 25 remote enforcement cameras. Previously used primarily for monitoring and identifying risky behavior, the cameras will now actively issue fines for infractions.
Authorities stated the measure aims to protect pedestrians, particularly near the BRT Londres station and the university in Vila Industrial. Common infractions targeted include illegal use of the BRT corridor, running red lights, and parking on sidewalks.
