Campinas installs public pianos at Viracopos Airport and City Hall

To celebrate Music Day on October 1, the city of Campinas is installing two public pianos in high-traffic areas: Viracopos International Airport and the Palácio dos Jequitibás, the seat of the City Hall.

The initiative is led by Instituto Anelo, an organization that provides music lessons in the Campo Grande district. Through the “Anelo Itinerante” project, which has operated at Viracopos for three years, a new high-precision instrument donated by Teclacenter Instrumentos Musicais will be placed in the airport's boarding area. Simultaneously, one of the existing pianos will be transferred to the City Hall lobby through a partnership with the Municipal Secretariat of Culture.

Alexandra Caprioli, Secretary of Culture and Tourism, stated that the presence of the instruments aims to bring music closer to the people and transform everyday transit spaces into cultural meeting points. Luccas Soares, founder of Anelo, noted that the project was inspired by international airport experiences in cities like Madrid and Rome. The pianos will be available for free public use and will also host performances by Anelo musicians.
