Campinas marks Day of the Evangelical with holiday and gospel festival
The city of Campinas, Brazil, has declared August 12 a municipal holiday to celebrate the Day of the Evangelical, based on municipal law No. 16.785. The holiday applies to public offices, schools and some commercial establishments within the municipality.
Earlier in the month, on August 8, Campinas hosted a free gospel music event at the Arena Cafezinho in the Jardim Santana neighborhood. The Fest Gospel Marcha para Jesus featured performances by well‑known Brazilian gospel artists such as Sarah Farias, Nicoli Francini, Ao Cubo, Lydia Moisés, Stella Cardoso and Marcados Pagode Gospel. The concert is part of the decentralized Marcha para Jesus circuit that travels through neighborhoods and nearby cities, drawing large crowds and highlighting the growing popularity of gospel music in Brazil.
