Campinas police dismantle clandestine cosmetics factory

The Civil Police, through the Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), dismantled a clandestine cosmetics factory in the Jardim do Lago neighborhood of Campinas, São Paulo. The operation targeted an illegal production site where shampoos and other personal care products were manufactured under substandard conditions.

Investigators found that the suspect used domestic equipment, including a kitchen mixer, to blend low-cost raw materials with various chemicals in a residence's kitchen and backyard. The finished products were placed in unbranded bottles and labeled with counterfeit brand stickers printed on-site before being sold via digital platforms.

Authorities seized 160 liters of chemical products, including acids and cereal alcohol, along with 500 filled bottles, 570 empty containers, 800 spray valves, and 1,000 plastic bags. Other confiscated items included 50 essence bottles, printers, funnels, and adhesive photo paper used for labeling. The woman responsible, a repeat offender, was arrested for crimes against public health and consumer relations.
