Campinas teacher suspended amid sexual harassment investigation
A teacher at the Dr. Telêmaco Paioli Melges State School in Campinas, São Paulo, has been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment involving students aged 11 and 12. The investigation follows reports of inappropriate conduct during a school activity on Saturday, where the teacher allegedly made an improper request regarding a physical position.
Additional reports from students and staff suggest a history of inappropriate behavior, including improper comments and obscene drawings on school chalkboards. The allegations led to significant unrest at the school on Monday night, during which students reportedly threatened the teacher and damaged his vehicle, requiring intervention by the Military Police to remove him from the premises.
The Civil Police, specifically the 2nd Women's Defense Police Station in Campinas, are investigating the case as suspected sexual harassment. The São Paulo State Education Secretariat (Seduc-SP) has opened an administrative procedure to determine the professional's conduct, which could result in dismissal. The Secretariat is also providing support to students through school protection and psychological programs.
