Camping and caravan trade fairs expand across Europe

Major camping and outdoor trade fairs are expanding to meet growing demand in the recreational vehicle sector.

In Germany, the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf is set to host a record 830 exhibitors. The event follows a period of significant growth in the camping industry, with 2025 seeing 56 million overnight stays at campsites and 20 million at motorhome pitches. Pre-event activities included driving safety training for caravan towing.

In Austria, the Caravan Salon Austria in Wels is also expanding. For the 2026 event, the fair will occupy a record 37,000 square meters, including the addition of a new hall to accommodate over 220 exhibitors and 500 brands. A new focus area, ‘adVANture’, will highlight the vanlife, off-road, and custom build scenes, featuring workshops on solar power, lithium systems, and DIY camper conversions.
