Camping equipment trends: Roof tents and large inflatable hitch tents
Recent developments in camping technology highlight diverse options for travelers, ranging from compact roof tents to large-scale inflatable structures.
A comparative test of five folding roof tents for two to three people evaluated models from Dometic, Front Runner, Gordigear, Horntools, and Thule. The assessment focused on weather protection, sleeping comfort, and ease of assembly. Notable findings included the Dometic TRT 140 Air, praised for its large windows and quick setup, and the Front Runner Feather-Lite, identified as a solid entry-level model. The Gordigear Daintree 140 was noted for its high quality and availability of spare parts, while the Horntools Desert 140 featured a robust canopy for rain protection.
In a different segment of the market, the Australian startup MyGlamper has introduced a large inflatable tent designed to be transported on a vehicle's trailer hitch. The tent, which can accommodate up to 12 people in its higher-end versions, inflates automatically within six minutes of arrival at a campsite. Priced starting at approximately 11,917 euros, the system serves as an alternative to traditional caravans or campervans.
