Camping may improve sleep quality by resetting circadian rhythms

Spending time camping may help improve sleep quality by resetting the body's circadian rhythm. According to a study published in the journal Current Biology, even a single weekend spent in nature can help synchronize the internal 24-hour clock with the natural day-night cycle.

Exposure to natural light during the day and darkness at night allows the brain to produce melatonin more naturally, which can lead to more balanced sleep and wake cycles. While urban environments often disrupt sleep through artificial light and noise, natural sounds such as wind, rain, or rustling leaves can act as relaxing elements that facilitate deeper rest.

Although the body may initially require one or two nights to adjust to new conditions like lower temperatures or different sounds, many people report feeling more refreshed and experiencing deeper sleep after adapting to the outdoor environment.
