Campo Grande administration renews ambulance rental contract

The Campo Grande municipal administration, led by Mayor Adriane Lopes, has renewed a rental contract for five ambulances despite receiving new vehicles from the Ministry of Health. The decision has drawn criticism from the Municipal Health Council, which had expected the donated vehicles to replace the rented fleet and generate public savings.

The rental contract with a company based in Minas Gerais is estimated to cost approximately R$ 857,000 annually. This expenditure occurs while the municipality faces financial constraints that have reportedly affected the availability of basic medicines in health units.

Previously, the administration had abandoned plans to expand the Emergency Mobile Care Service (Samu) fleet using federal donations, citing a lack of funds to cover the necessary costs for new teams, professional hiring, and infrastructure requirements.
