Campo Grande City Council discusses cooking oil disposal solutions

The Campo Grande City Council is discussing solutions to mitigate the environmental impact caused by the irregular disposal of used cooking oil. Entrepreneur Zadrik Mendonça presented ÓleoPonto, a technological platform designed to manage the logistics of collecting and treating used oil, to council members.

In a meeting with Council President Epaminondas Neto, discussions focused on increasing public awareness and facilitating proper waste disposal in the capital. The proposal includes the possibility of the City Council integrating into the ÓleoPonto network to expand collection points and promote environmental responsibility among staff and citizens.

Data presented indicates that residents of Campo Grande consume approximately 250,000 liters of cooking oil per month. Currently, only 60,000 liters are disposed of correctly, leaving 190,000 liters to be discarded irregularly. This improper disposal poses a significant threat, as a single liter of oil can contaminate up to 25,000 liters of water in local rivers and springs.
