Campo Grande completes LED street lighting overhaul, reaches 100% coverage

The municipal government of Campo Grande, Brazil, finished a city‑wide upgrade of its public lighting system, replacing all 125,736 street lamps with LED units. The project makes Campo Grande the third Brazilian capital to achieve full LED coverage, improving nighttime visibility for drivers and pedestrians and enhancing the sense of safety among residents.

Mayor Adriane Lopes highlighted that the new LED network will cut electricity consumption by 30%‑35%, delivering significant cost savings for the municipality. The modernized infrastructure also positions the city for future smart‑city applications, allowing automated monitoring and rapid replacement of faulty lamps.

The upgrade was carried out by the Secretaria Municipal de Infraestrutura e Serviços Públicos (Sisep) and is presented as a step toward a more efficient, sustainable urban environment.
