Campo Grande expands BCG vaccine availability to weekdays

The Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesau) in Campo Grande has expanded the availability of the BCG vaccine. Previously offered once a week at reference units, the vaccine is now available Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, at 10 health units.

The BCG vaccine, which provides protection against severe forms of tuberculosis, is ideally administered at birth. The expansion aims to facilitate access for newborns who did not receive the dose in maternity wards and for children needing to complete their vaccination schedules. In 2025, Campo Grande applied 12,259 doses, achieving a coverage rate of 103.57%, exceeding the Ministry of Health's 90% target.
