Campo Grande hospital ordered to pay damages after patient left in urine

A court in Campo Grande has ordered a hospital to pay R$ 15,000 in moral damages to a patient following a medical care failure. The patient, who had undergone major aesthetic surgery, was left in a bed soaked in urine for approximately four and a half hours due to a leaking catheter.

According to the lawsuit, the patient and her family requested assistance from the nursing staff, but the situation remained unresolved for several hours. Reports indicate that while a nursing technician identified the issue with the drain, they were allegedly prevented from replacing it by the nurse in charge. The delay resulted in physical and psychological distress, as well as concerns regarding infection risks after the urine reached the surgical mesh used during the procedure.
