Campo Grande hosts festival celebrating elderly residents and local history

The 4th edition of the Elderly Festival in the Unified Social Assistance System (FESTSUAS 2026) was held at the Vovó Ziza Elderly Coexistence Center in Campo Grande. The event, which was part of the city's 127th-anniversary celebrations, focused on the history and transformation of local neighborhoods.

Organized by the Campo Grande City Hall through the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance and Citizenship (SAS), the festival brought together participants from 21 Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) and Elderly Coexistence Centers (CCIs). Attendees presented various exhibits, including models, photographs, handicrafts, and historical objects that illustrated the development of their respective territories.

During the opening, SAS Secretary Camila Nascimento praised the energy and vitality of the current elderly participants. Gizele Motta, Superintendent of Basic Social Protection, emphasized the importance of the festival in strengthening social bonds and ensuring the rights of the elderly. Larissa Diniz Paraguassu, the Subsecretary of Public Policies for the Elderly in Mato Grosso do Sul, also attended to highlight the value of these life stories.
