Campo Grande hosts festival honoring Saint Carlo Acutis
The 36th Festival of the Patroness and Saint Carlo Acutis begins today in Campo Grande, Brazil. Organized by the São Sebastião Parish, the event runs from October 3 to October 12 at the sanctuary in the Jardim Marabá neighborhood.
The festival celebrates the connection between the city and the saint, as Campo Grande was the site of the first miracle attributed to his intercession. In 2013, a child's recovery from a rare congenital pancreatic anomaly after touching a relic of Acutis was investigated and recognized by the Vatican as a miracle, leading to his beatification in 2020 and subsequent canonization on September 7, 2025.
The programming includes a novena from October 3 to 11, featuring daily rosaries, masses, and meditations. The festivities conclude on October 12 with a special mass in honor of Saint Carlo Acutis and the veneration of his clothing.
