Campo Grande hosts free Japanese Taikô music workshops
The “Taikô – O Despertar da Música do Sol Nascente em Campo Grande” project begins this Wednesday in Campo Grande, offering free workshops, lectures, and musical performances. Led by professor Crystian Proença, the initiative aims to introduce the Taikô drum and the sanshin string instrument through both musical practice and historical context regarding Japanese culture.
The program includes activities in various locations, such as the Teatro do Mundo, schools, colleges, and peripheral neighborhoods, to expand access to Japanese artistic manifestations. Additionally, the project pays tribute to the late Japanese luthier Hanshin Oshiro, highlighting the importance of instrument manufacturing and conservation in maintaining cultural traditions. The initiative is supported by the Municipal Culture Foundation (Fundac) and the City Hall of Campo Grande.
