Campo Grande issues alert over WhatsApp scam impersonating Finance Secretary
The Campo Grande Municipal Government, through its Municipal Finance Secretariat (Sefaz), has issued an alert regarding a WhatsApp scam targeting local businesses. Fraudsters are impersonating Finance Secretary Isaac José de Araújo to gain credibility.
The scammers use official titles and functional registration numbers to contact companies, often citing specific construction company names, CNPJ numbers, and public contract details. Their goal is to request contact information for financial department heads or to solicit sensitive data.
Sefaz clarified that neither the Secretary nor any municipal agency uses WhatsApp to request transfers, payments, passwords, or documents. Citizens and business owners are advised to disregard such messages and verify any official requests through authorized municipal channels.
