Campo Grande launches free rhythmic gymnastics classes for girls

The municipal sports foundation (Funesp) in Campo Grande, Brazil, is offering free rhythmic gymnastics lessons to school‑enrolled girls from age five. Classes are held at public parks – Jacques da Luz, Moreninhas and Ayrton Senna (Aero Rancho) – on alternating days, with sessions from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Coordinator Adenízia Julião says the program aims to develop motor skills, discipline and inclusion while nurturing future athletes. “Today, Funesp is our maintainer of rhythmic gymnastics and a trainer of athletes within the state,” she said. Participants such as 10‑year‑old Ana Júlia Firmino note the supportive environment, and parents report improvements in their children’s physical abilities and confidence.
