Brazil environmental initiatives promote reforestation and biodiversity
Various environmental initiatives are being conducted in Brazil to celebrate Tree Day and promote biodiversity. In Campo Grande, the Municipal Secretariat of Environment (Semades) organized a drive-thru event to distribute 10,000 free fruit tree seedlings, including species such as acerola, pitanga, and guava, to encourage urban reforestation and improve the local microclimate.
Additionally, Semades conducted plantings of native species like jacarandá and ipê branco in Parque Municipal Água Limpa to strengthen biodiversity and potentially create a new bird-watching hotspot. In another region, Coopercocal planted pau-brasil seedlings in schools and public squares to provide environmental education and protect the endangered national symbol.
In the Amazon, the Institute of Man and Environment of the Amazon (Imazon) launched a memory game featuring eight native species, such as açaí and cacao, to support landscape restoration programs and raise awareness about sustainable forest management.
