Campo Grande launches weekend rabies vaccination campaign

The Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesau), through the Zoonosis Control Center (CCZ), is conducting a rabies vaccination campaign for dogs and cats in Campo Grande this weekend. The initiative aims to increase immunization coverage and provide access to pet owners who may have missed previous efforts.

On Saturday, vaccination points will be located at Praça do Bairro Otávio Pécora and the USF Dr. Nasri Siufi. On Sunday, a fixed point will operate at Praça do Coophasul. Additionally, CCZ teams will perform door-to-door vaccinations in the Nova Campo Grande region.

Veterinarian Maria Aparecida Conche emphasized that vaccination is a fundamental preventive measure to protect animals and reduce the risk of transmission to humans. While no recent rabies cases have been recorded in local dogs or cats, the virus continues to circulate in bats, with 12 bats testing positive in the city this year.
