Campo Grande municipality expands animal welfare aid and partners with UCDB for social innovation lab

The Campo Grande city government delivered more than 26 tonnes of pet food to nine registered animal‑welfare NGOs, part of the Suporte Nutricional program run by the Superintendence of Animal Welfare. Since its launch in 2023 the initiative has served 3,734 dogs and cats, and officials expect an additional four tonnes before year‑end. Superintendence head Edvaldo Salles said the program eases the financial burden on shelters and improves care for vulnerable animals.

The municipality also signed a protocol with the Catholic University Dom Bosco (UCDB) to create a Vivo Laboratory of Social Innovation in public management. Located in the Anhanduizinho neighbourhood, the lab will channel university research into municipal policy making. Mayor Adriane Lopes highlighted the partnership’s potential to enhance city services, while UCDB rector Padre Hermenegildo Conceição Silva stressed its role in addressing local vulnerability and improving residents’ quality of life.
