Campo Grande opens new Centro POP for homeless services

A new Centro POP has opened in the Amambaí neighborhood of Campo Grande to expand services for the homeless population. Designed by the municipal government through the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Citizenship (SAS), the facility follows national guidelines for social assistance.

The center features comprehensive infrastructure, including 26 individual bathroom cabinets, showers, a laundry, a luggage storage area, and a kennel for pets. For social and educational activities, the building provides workshop rooms, integrated service areas, a kitchen, a dining hall, and an outdoor area with a hammock net. It also includes a library and spaces for films and recreational games.

This new facility expands upon the existing Specialized Social Approach Service (Seas) previously hosted at the location. According to municipal secretary Camilla Nascimento, the center is intended to provide psychosocial support and opportunities for social reintegration and autonomy.
