Campo Grande urban gardens vandalized in downtown area

Maintenance teams from the Fundo de Apoio à Comunidade (FAC) and the Unidade Técnica de Agricultura Urbana (UTA) discovered vandalized gardens in downtown Campo Grande on Tuesday morning. During landscaping work on Rua 14 de Julho and Avenida Afonso Pena, workers found uprooted plants, burned foliage, and accumulated trash.

FAC President Adir Diniz noted that despite the recurring damage to environmental heritage, the teams remain committed to their maintenance duties. The destruction impacts the biological functions of these urban gardens, which serve to absorb rainwater, filter air pollutants, and act as a climate refuge against urban heat.
