Campo Imperatore Livestock Fair Draws Record Attendance
The 65th edition of the Campo Imperatore Livestock Fair (Rassegna Ovini) concluded on 5 August 2026, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Sasso d’Italia. After a forced suspension in 2025 because of a Blue Tongue emergency, the event returned with thousands of sheep and goats brought to the high‑plain venue and 16 farmers receiving awards for their dedication.
A total of 34 enterprises participated, showcasing agro‑food products, local specialties, craft beers, wool processing and regional handicrafts. Chamber president Antonella Ballone said the fair demonstrated the resilience and identity of Abruzzo’s mountain livestock economy and pledged continued support for the sector. The closing ceremony honored numerous local shepherds from the province of L’Aquila, highlighting the region’s rich pastoral heritage.
