Campo Maior and Uva host summer cultural festivals in Portugal

From August 8‑16, Campo Maior will stage the Festas do Povo, a UNESCO‑recognised intangible heritage event that decorates more than 100 streets with millions of handcrafted paper flowers. Over 4,000 volunteers prepare the immersive scenery, and tickets range from €8 for a day to €15 for the full nine‑day programme, with sponsorship from Delta Cafés, Sagres, and others.

On July 4, the village of Uva in Vimioso held the Festa dos Pombais, organised by the Palombar association to showcase traditional pigeon lofts, local crafts and tourism. The fourth edition featured theatre, experimental music, serigraphy and other performances, while the municipal mayor highlighted the event’s role in promoting regional products such as olive oil, honey and cheese. The festival attracts visitors to the hamlet of about five hundred residents, strengthening cultural and economic ties in the area.
