Campo Maior's Festas do Povo draws community support and special wine release

In preparation for the annual Festas do Povo in Campo Maior, volunteers on the Travessa dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra street organized special assistance and a commemorative theme honoring a neighbour’s father and grandfather. Residents Paula Pereira and Alexandra Torres coordinated help from the APPACDM of Elvas, university students and local youth, managing material distribution and rallying additional volunteers as needed.

At the same time, local winery Adega Mayor introduced a limited‑edition 2026 Official Wine in white and red, celebrating the UNESCO‑listed intangible heritage of the festival. CEO Rita Nabeiro said the wine reflects the collective spirit that transforms streets into paper‑flower gardens, aiming to carry the tradition beyond the town’s borders.
