Campo Novo do Parecis: Man executed by criminal faction at public event

Wanderson Ramos do Espírito Santo, 47, was shot and killed during a classic car exhibition at the Ary Tomazelli Municipal Stadium in Campo Novo do Parecis, Brazil. The attack occurred around 9:50 PM on Saturday while the victim was accompanied by his wife. A 40-year-old woman was also struck by a glancing shot and received medical attention.

Two suspects, aged 21 and 16, were apprehended by the Military Police after being pursued by members of the public. The suspects reportedly confessed to the execution, stating they were members of the Comando Vermelho criminal faction and had been monitoring the victim for four days. They claimed they were promised approximately R$ 2,000 each for the killing.

During their flight, the suspects discarded a 9mm Canik pistol with a suppressed serial number and a .32 caliber Rossi revolver in a nearby wooded area. Police recovered the weapons along with ammunition and projectiles.
