Campobasso introduces new noise emission ordinance

The Mayor of Campobasso has adopted a new ordinance regarding noise emissions, serving as an interim measure while the city awaits the final approval of the Police and Urban Security Regulation. This step aims to move away from the repeated use of temporary ordinances toward a stable, organic regulatory framework.

Local officials, including Commerce Councilor Giose Trivisonno and Commission Presidents Luca Praitano and Stefano Ramundo, stated that the goal is to balance the residents' right to rest with the needs of social life and economic activities. The new ordinance sits between previous regulations, incorporating requests for increased protection for citizens.

Authorities emphasized that adjusting hours alone is insufficient; noise limits must be strictly respected even during permitted times. Consequently, the city plans to implement more rigorous controls and effective sanctions against businesses that violate acoustic limits to ensure fair competition for law-abiding operators. Future steps include the national-mandated acoustic classification of the municipal territory to tailor protections to specific residential or commercial zones.
