Campos and Ses Salines issue water consumption alerts

The municipalities of Campos and Ses Salines in Mallorca have issued alerts stating that public tap water is currently unfit for human consumption due to elevated sodium levels.

In Campos, the concentration of sodium has exceeded permitted values, resulting in a ‘slightly salty’ taste. Authorities advise against drinking the water or using it for cooking, though it remains safe for personal hygiene and household cleaning. Residents are also prohibited from using the municipal network to fill swimming pools or irrigate gardens.

In Ses Salines, officials attributed the spike in sodium levels to drought conditions and increased demand during the summer months. Similar to Campos, the water is deemed unfit for drinking or cooking but can be used for washing and cleaning utensils. Local authorities expect sodium levels to decrease as rainfall increases and summer demand subsides.
