Campos do Jordão hosts L’Étape cycling event with 3,500 participants

Approximately 3,500 cyclists are participating in the L’Étape Campos do Jordão by Tour de France presented by Nubank this Sunday in Campos do Jordão, Brazil. The event features two distinct routes through the Serra da Mantiqueira mountains.

The long course covers 107 km with a total elevation gain of 2,300 meters. Starting at an altitude of nearly 1,600 meters, the route climbs toward Pico de Itapeva, reaching nearly 1,900 meters by the 13 km mark. After a significant descent into areas below 1,000 meters, participants must recover altitude in the final stages. The 107 km route includes a decisive 'King and Queen of the Mountain' segment, featuring a 12 km climb with an average gradient of 7.8%.

The short course spans 66 km with 1,300 meters of elevation gain. Technical director Fernando Cheles noted that the race requires careful management of effort, nutrition, and hydration due to the extreme variations in altitude and the positioning of climbs and descents.
