Campos Novos addresses inspection findings at child shelter
The City Hall of Campos Novos, through the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance, has issued a clarification regarding a recent inspection of the local Child and Adolescent Shelter. The inspection was conducted by the Ministry of Public Affairs of Santa Catarina and Sanitary Surveillance.
In response to findings, the administration stated that large quantities of food, such as pasta and rice, were being transferred from original packaging to smaller containers to facilitate handling. Following the inspection, authorities have ordered that all food items remain in their original or properly identified packaging. The municipality confirmed that any food items found to be past their expiration dates were immediately discarded.
Regarding meal practices, the administration noted that leftovers from lunch were occasionally served at dinner to prevent waste, but this practice will cease. Additionally, an administrative inquiry will be launched to investigate the circumstances surrounding the discovery of moldy bread at the facility, though officials stated the bread was not served to the children.
