Camprodon launches digital archive to preserve local photographic heritage
A non-profit association has launched the Centre de la Imatge de Camprodon to preserve and digitize the photographic heritage of the municipality. Supported by the local town hall, the initiative aims to guarantee access to and conservation of historical memory through a digital catalog.
The first phase of the project features over 500 photographs from the collection of local photographer Valentí Planesas (1903–1967). The archive documents various aspects of life in the town up to 1975, including urban changes, traditions, festivals, and historical events such as floods and snowfalls.
Association president Cuki Pons stated that the project was driven by a desire to prevent the loss of this legacy and to organize images circulating in digital spaces like WhatsApp. The collection was made available to the town hall by resident Martí Pujol.
