Cam’ron and Vic Mensa clash over African heritage comments
Rappers Cam’ron and Vic Mensa have engaged in a public dispute following comments made by Cam’ron regarding his African heritage.
The disagreement began after Cam’ron stated in a conversation that he is not African, though he supports people from the continent. He also mentioned a comment from a co-host regarding hygiene in Africa. Vic Mensa responded via video, labeling the remarks as “ridiculously disrespectful and ignorant.”
Cam’ron subsequently argued that his comments were taken out of context and that he was merely repeating what another individual had said. He accused Mensa of “click baiting” and “clout-chasing.” In response, Mensa challenged Cam’ron to undergo a DNA test to better understand his ancestral origins, noting that while his nationality may be American, his ancestry is likely overwhelmingly African.
