Camuzzi inaugurates Patagonia gas system upgrade

Camuzzi has officially inaugurated the repowering of the Cordillerano-Patagónico System, a major energy infrastructure project in Argentina. The initiative, which involved an investment exceeding US$ 40 million, aims to strengthen natural gas supply and transport capacity across 25 localities in the provinces of Chubut, Río Negro, and Neuquén.

The project included four strategic interventions: the construction of new compressor plants in Alto Río Senguer and Holdich, the expansion of the Gobernador Costa compressor plant, and the interconnection of the system with the General San Martín Pipeline. This interconnection links the regional system directly to Argentina's main gas pipeline network, reducing dependence on local mature fields.

The upgrade is expected to increase transport capacity by 300,000 cubic meters per day, allowing for up to 12,000 new domestic and industrial connections. This development addresses long-standing supply restrictions that had limited regional growth since 2022. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the governors of Chubut, Río Negro, and Neuquén, along with national energy officials.
