Cañón del Porce seeks to become a major agricultural hub in Antioquia

The Cañón del Porce region in Antioquia is emerging as a significant agricultural and economic hub. Spanning municipalities including Santo Domingo, Santa Rosa de Osos, Yolombó, Gómez Plata, and Don Matías, the area integrates diverse activities such as agriculture, livestock, pig farming, poultry, mining, and tourism.

Improved connectivity through national highways and 4G roads has enhanced travel efficiency between the region and Medellín, as well as corridors leading to Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, and the Magdalena Medio. Local leaders aim to increase visibility for the area to transform it into a major Colombian food supplier. The region's economy is supported by citrus crops, poultry, and traditional panela production, alongside a strategic abundance of water resources.
