Can Pastilla gas station project sparks environmental concerns in Palma

The political group MÉS per Palma is demanding explanations from the municipal government regarding the authorization of a gas station in Can Pastilla. The group alleges that the Palma City Council, led by the People's Party (PP), granted urban planning licenses for the project on land that had already been declared a flood zone.

Spokesperson Neus Truyol stated that the construction increases risks to people and infrastructure during intense rainfall. Furthermore, the group warned that flooding could lead to fuel leaks from tanks and pipes, causing soil and water contamination. MÉS per Palma has noted the absence of reports from Water Resources (Recursos Hídrics) in the documentation and is calling for transparency regarding the guarantees provided for the project.
