Vietnam and Sri Lanka report significant tourism growth in 2026
Vietnam and Sri Lanka are experiencing significant growth in their tourism sectors. Vietnam has set ambitious targets to welcome 45–50 million international visitors by 2030, aiming for tourism to contribute 10–12% to its GDP. In the first eight months of 2026, Vietnam saw nearly 16 million international arrivals, a 14.4% increase compared to the previous year. Key drivers include improved infrastructure, expanded flight connections—particularly with Russia—and a strategic focus on developing high-quality tourism ecosystems and professional human resources.
Similarly, Sri Lanka has recorded over 1.6 million tourist arrivals through mid-September 2026. India remains the primary source market for Sri Lankan tourism, followed by the United Kingdom and China. The growth in both nations highlights a broader trend of recovery and expansion in the Asian tourism market, with both countries focusing on diversifying their visitor bases and enhancing service quality to sustain long-term economic impact.
