Long Thành International Airport nears 2026 commercial operation
Long Thành International Airport is entering its final construction stages, with a target for commercial operations on December 24, 2026. The facility features a passenger terminal inspired by the lotus flower, a 4,000m runway, and a 123m air traffic control tower. The terminal's central steel roof structure weighs over 5,300 tons, representing one of the largest modules in aviation history.
According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the project's construction value has reached nearly 74 trillion VND, or over 85% of the contract value. During the initial phase, the airport will prioritize the West Wing and central areas, providing four check-in islands to serve both domestic and international flights. Early operations are expected to accommodate a maximum of 366 flights per week, with Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air projected to utilize 6% to 10% of the terminal's design capacity.
In related infrastructure developments, Dong Nai province is focusing on industrial growth and public investment to maintain double-digit economic expansion. Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector in Quang Ninh has seen a 26.67% growth rate in the first nine months of 2026, driven by medical equipment, textiles, and automotive production.
