B. from Ca Mau province died when his composite boat suddenly split in two while he was testing the vessel on a river near the race course.

Although the victim had registered for the competition, organizers noted that the official athlete list had not yet been finalized at the time of the incident. Local authorities confirmed the suspension of the event, which was scheduled to begin on October 10, citing concerns that safety preparations were not yet sufficient.

The victim's family, described as facing financial difficulties, has received monetary support from event sponsors and local organizers following the tragedy.
