Can Tho declares emergency over severe landslides

The Can Tho People's Committee has declared an emergency due to dangerous landslides occurring along riverbanks, canals, and coastal areas in four communes and wards: Thoi An Dong, Dai Hai, Lai Hoa, and Vinh Phuoc.

The erosion is affecting critical infrastructure, transportation routes, and the safety of local residents. In Thoi An Dong ward, approximately 130 households are affected by six dangerous landslide locations along a 2,100-meter stretch of the Tra Noc River. Some areas have experienced significant ground subsidence and deep cracks in roads.

Tran Chi Hung, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People's Committee, stated that prioritizing emergency projects to address these landslides is urgent to protect lives and property, restore transportation, and stabilize the lives of those in the affected areas.
