Can Tho denies rumors of moving administrative center to Nga Bay

The Can Tho Department of Construction has clarified that there is currently no official policy or approved plan to move the city's administrative center to Nga Bay.

Recent social media rumors regarding this relocation originated from consultant proposals within a draft master plan for Can Tho's urban development through 2050, with a vision to 2075. This draft is the first comprehensive planning document for the city following recent administrative unit reorganizations.

The planning dossier is currently undergoing a public consultation phase, scheduled from August 27 to September 16, 2026. Authorities emphasized that determining the location of the administrative center is a critical decision affecting urban space, transportation, infrastructure, and public accessibility, and will be studied scientifically and cautiously.
