Can Tho police investigate 79-year-old for tax evasion

The Can Tho City Police have initiated a criminal investigation into Ngo Kim Ngau, a 79-year-old resident of Phu Loi Ward, for tax evasion. Authorities have issued a decision prohibiting her from leaving her place of residence while the investigation proceeds.

Preliminary findings indicate that in 2022, Ngau entered into a land transfer contract with an actual value of 20 billion VND. However, she reportedly declared a transfer price of only 5 billion VND to reduce her financial obligations. This discrepancy resulted in an estimated evasion of 300 million VND in personal income tax and 75 million VND in registration fees.
